BARCELONA, SPAIN, JULY 24, 2024

Various Spanish media outlets are reporting that the Spanish government has started the legislative process to scrap their acclaimed Golden Visa program.

Whilst the decision will undoubtedly be well received by the governments’ left-leaning constituencies, it will almost definitely not address the government’s stated priority, being housing cost inflation.

(Which the Golden Visa program is conveniently being blamed for.)

Nonetheless, these legislative processes are complex and tend to take time, hence the program currently remains open for new applicants.

BUT… THE LONGER YOU WAIT, THE MORE GREAT OPTIONS GO AWAY…

The Spanish program’s impending closure follows the broader trend: Ireland, the Netherlands and the UK all closed their programs in the last few years, with the remaining programs becoming more restrictive.

(And a LOT more expensive).

Every day we speak to clients who regret not doing the Portuguese Golden Visa while it cost just €280K (or while real estate was still an option).

Others fret about missing out on the US EB-5 at only $500K.

And a lot of folks are busy missing the bus on a Caribbean passport as we speak.

So if you’re sold on a Golden Visa but life’s just been getting in the way, now is the time to take action.
