NEW: AUSTRIAN RESIDENCE BY INVESTMENT – VIP IMMIGRATION PATHWAY
Looking to gain Austrian Residence By Investment in 2025? When it comes to safe, stable and prosperous Plan B destinations, Austria sets the global benchmark.
Offering breathtaking natural landscapes, a rich cultural heritage, and world-class living standards, it is increasingly sought after by high net worth individuals seeking a European base – or back-up base – for them, their business interests, and their families.
Yet its immigration processes are challenging to navigate. And its Golden Visa equivalent residence permits – the so-called “Higher Status” residence – are both extremely limited and highly sought after by VIP applicants.
(Only 500-700 of these permits are issued per year, and they typically get snatched up very fast.)
But for the right clientele, options always exist.
And in 2024, gaining Austrian residence by investment is now faster and simpler than ever:
Working with our acclaimed VIP immigration consultancy partners in Vienna, you and your family can gain a flexible, “Higher Status” Austrian residence in as little as 3-4 months on the basis of self-sponsored Austrian employment.
In addition, you and your family can all become eligible to apply for Austrian citizenship after 6 years, subject to meeting the applicable German language proficiency requirements.
Expert, 1-on-1 language tuition services can be provided to you and your family at home in Austria, or online, if preferred.

How This VIP Austrian Residence Pathway Works…
This proprietary residence program for HNWIs and VIP clients features a 2-step mechanism:
It starts off as a “self-sponsorship” visa program, whereby you pay your own salary for the first two years. (Budget around €75,000 to cover your salary for this 24-month period.)
Thereafter, you can easily convert to either a self-employment or financially independent residence category, should you so choose.
But best of all, you’ll enjoy the flexibility of a Golden Visa residence throughout (i.e. no minimum in-country presence requirements). In fact, you only need to visit the country once every 2 years to keep your residence active.
This proven residence path offers you and your family a clear, predictable path to Austrian citizenship after either 10 years, or after just 6 years, subject to you and your family being able to demonstrate excellent proficiency in the German language. (More on this below.)
Let’s take a look at the various Austrian residence stages below…
RESIDENCE PERIOD 1: 24 MONTHS (2 YEARS)
Firstly, you’ll typically receive a 24-month employment-based residence permit based on securing a 24-month employment contract with an Austrian company.
The contract salary amount needs to cover you and your family’s living expenses and the minimum level of subsistence as set by Austrian Law. You should factor in paying yourself a salary of around €37,500 per year (i.e. approximately €75,000 in total for the 24 month period). Your personal income tax and social security contributions in Austria will amount to approximately 50% of this amount, so you can bank on recouping around €37,500 of this amount as post-tax earnings.
In addition, you’ll also have to show a property rental contract, or buy your own property in Austria.
Your wife and children under 18 will receive the so-called “higher status” residence permits from the get-go, enabling them to obtain employment in Austria, or to opt for self-employment immediately.
It is important to note that this program leverages the so-called EU Blue Card legislative framework, and hence only applicants holding a Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree from an accredited university are eligible to apply.
RESIDENCE PERIOD 2: 36 MONTHS (3 YEARS)
After the first 2 years, you can switch to a self-employment residence permit (or to the residence permit for financially independent individuals with ease. The second residence is typically issued with a 3-year validity.
To do so, you can either show an employment contract covering your expenses and the minimum level of subsistence as required by Austrian Law, OR proof of sufficient financial means in the amount of approximately €100,000 for a single person, and € 150,000 for a family.
This money must be deposited in either an Austrian or European bank account.
If you opt to switch to the self-employment track upon renewal, you’ll also have to submit proof of health / travel /accident insurance in Austria, since you will no longer be insured after your employment contract is terminated.
In addition, you’ll still have to show either a property rental contract or own your own property in Austria to obtain the second, 3-year residency permit.
RESIDENCE PERIOD 3: 36 MONTHS (3 YEARS) OR 60 MONTHS (5 YEARS)
Depending on your German language proficiency at this point, you and your family’s third Austrian residence cards (and all future ones therafter) will be issued with either a 3-year or a 5-year validity.
Austria places a strong emphasis on linguistic integration, so those applying for citizenship are required to demonstrate proficiency in the German language.
The standard language requirement for obtaining Austrian citizenship by naturalization is A2 Level German, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
However, a more advanced command of German, such as achieving a B2 Level, can lead to a faster route to citizenship, allowing applicants to qualify after just six years of residence.
Working with our expert language tutoring providers on an individual, 1-on-1 basis can therefore enable you and your family to become Austrian citizens in as little as 6 years.
